CFK Africa welcomes Roseanne Mugo-Ogonji as a new Kenya Board Director. An expert in non-profit audits, finance, and donor-funded projects, Roseanne brings valuable skills in fiduciary oversight, transparency, and reporting to CFK Africa’s board.
A Career of Service
Roseanne is committed to service. Growing up on the outskirts of Nairobi in a rural area, she knows what it’s like to live without amenities, and she attributes this experience to shaping who she is today. She obtained her Master of Business Administration from the United States International University, in addition to a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi and a Certification in Public Accounting from Strathmore College.
For over two decades, Roseanne worked at organizations ranging from large to small in auditing and finance, serving as an auditor for firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, and KPMG East Africa.

She focused on both auditing and assessing organizations for donor-funded projects, contributing to impactful initiatives supported by organizations such as the USAID, CDC and the United Nations. She then went on to work in finance and operations for USAID. Roseanne is now the Finance Manager at the AfricaNenda Foundation.
Reflecting on her career trajectory, she shared “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. I’ve been able to harness my skills and abilities to understand how systems and structures really work—from big audit firms to small organizations to international donors like USAID. I now fully understand the entire cycle of how the donor-funded world works and I am thrilled to now be able to contribute those skills to CFK Africa.”
All About Impact
Roseanne truly has a comprehensive understanding of all levels of nonprofit work. “I spent a year working as an accountant in a small NGO as I was completing my master’s degree,” she reflected. The organization worked to reduce HIV and other disease transmission across five of the then eight provinces in Kenya through the distribution of contraceptives and medicines. “The experience gave me a full understanding of the processes of funding and service delivery.”
Roseanne’s diverse experience across nonprofit positions her for board service.
“For me, it’s all about impact,” she says. “I can understand where everyone is coming from, from implementing the programs on the ground to reporting the impact and results.”

She previously served on the board of World Vision Kenya, first as a Board Director and later as Board Chair, where she gained valuable skills in governance through working with an organization that operates worldwide. This experience included attending field visits on the ground and engaging with beneficiaries to understand community needs and the impact of the work.
A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
Roseanne is motivated by seeing lives change. Her various positions have been woven together by a single thread, “what role did I have to play?” She brings that passion to CFK Africa, applying her skills in decision-making and impact to guide our work. Excited by CFK Africa’s mission to empower youth in slums, Roseanne recognizes the power and potential of young people in these communities who benefit from services, mentorship, and networks of support early in life.
From her time spent in Kibera with CFK Africa’s programs, Roseanne recognizes the real need for health services, girls’ empowerment, and support for teenage mothers, as well as CFK’s important role in the community as a trusted service provider. Roseanne also felt a connection to CFK Africa co-founder Tabitha Festo’s story, reflecting, “how CFK was founded, the sacrifices made, the impact – it’s all necessary for community change.”
“As I am giving, I am learning,” she shared. “I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve – and I hope I’ll be able to add value in small and big ways and make an impact that will benefit not only CFK but also the community at large. I aim to do my best and remain committed to the cause.”
