Kibera Soccer Women achieved a landmark victory today, June 28, 2025, by defeating Vihiga Queens 1-0 in the FKF Women’s Cup final at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium. This thrilling win, secured by Stella Adhiambo’s dramatic injury-time goal, marks Kibera’s first major title and brings an end to Ulinzi Starlets’ three-year reign. The match, which was postponed from its original June 14 date due to the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship, underscores the growing competitiveness and rising talent within Kenyan women’s football.

The Road to a Historic Title

Kibera Soccer Women’s journey to becoming champions was a testament to their resilience.

In the quarterfinals, they knocked out the defending champions, Ulinzi Starlets, in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw. They then caused another upset in the semifinals, beating league champions Kenya Police Bullets 2-0, proving their determination.

Vihiga Queens also fought hard to reach the final, overcoming Bungoma Queens 2-1 in their semifinal.

This set up a final between two teams eager to end their seasons with silverware after finishing second and third in the league, respectively.

This victory marks a steady climb for Kibera in the FKF Women’s Cup, moving from a third-place finish in 2023 to runners-up in 2024 and now, finally, champions in 2025.

While it’s a tough loss for Vihiga, a team known for its four league titles, it highlights their enduring strength in the league.
