MIcrogrant Pilot Program

Invest in talented and creative entrepreneurs and grow community economic resilience in the informal settlement of Kibera.

When you Support an Entrepreneur,
You Support an Entire Community.

CFK Africa’s microgrant pilot program in Kibera supports entrepreneurs in building community economic resilience. The program will create income-generating opportunities, leading to greater economic stability for aspiring entrepreneurs and their families.

The initiative was developed in response to a community-identified need; residents in informal settlements where CFK Africa works have long expressed interest in a program like this, and we believe that community leaders can have a large impact if they have access to the resources to get started. $25 can support our feeding programs and provide immunizations for the vulnerable children in CFK’s nutrition program for 1 month. $50 can provide a family of 3 with food for a month. $100 can provide handwashing stations for households. $500 will allow CFK to expand medical services and take health care beyond the walls of our clinics and into the community through the work of 50 trained Community Health Volunteers.

With only $26, CFK co-founder Tabitha Festo, built a business and used her earnings to open a community health clinic. The clinic was attached to Tabitha’s home because, as she said, people don’t stop getting sick at night. The purpose of the clinic was to provide necessary health care services to all who were in need; no one would be turned away. Tabitha’s Clinic has become the backbone of CFK and a great example of the impact of $26.
