CFK Africa named 10 new recipients of its scholarship program designed to empower students in informal settlements to succeed throughout all four years of high school, bringing its total number of currently funded scholars to 92.
CFK Africa will host an annual gathering of current and past academic scholarship recipients later this month, as part of a long-term project to improve their educational and career prospects.

Growing up in Kenya, Peacock Fellow Selah Bekele-Piper witnessed many well-meaning development projects but noticed that there often seemed to be a piece missing. This summer, she explored a different approach to development work during her time with CFK Africa.
Born into a family of seven, Josephat Agaki has faced significant financial challenges his entire life, but a CFK Africa scholarship gave him the opportunity he needed to excel. Now, he is in his final year at university.
CFK Africa is a registered NGO in Kenya and 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the U.S. that improves public health and economic prosperity in informal settlements through participatory research, primary health care, and education.
