“My favorite part of being a part of the CFK Africa scholarship program has been all the mentorship activities that have given me guiding tips on how to live and interact with others.”
As students were sitting for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations at the end of 2022, Esther Askoye, student at the neighboring Olympic High School in Kibera, delivered a healthy baby girl at CFK Africa Tabitha Maternity Home. Hours later, she took her national Agriculture examination in the same clinic.
CFK Africa’s Funzo project improves health, wellness and educational outcomes for teenage mothers in Kenyan informal settlements.
“My message to other teens out there is to come out and look at the challenges our community is facing, and to try to address them in small ways.”
“As a field officer; I ensure that the community I serve is safe. Alongside other field officers, I sensitize the community on the importance of hygiene practices at the household and business levels to combat the cholera menace in Kibera.”

Breastfeeding has made a really important difference in my child’s development,” said Agnes.
“Education is an equalizer; it gives young people who are born into tough circumstances a fighting chance. I know firsthand what education and economic mobility means for young people, for entire families.”
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of our healthcare facilities on weekends, utilize our ambulance to its fullest extent possible, and treat higher volumes of patients as the protests continue.
“During these four years of schooling, the scholarship not only covered my school fees, but also provided a range of additional activities that shaped my personal growth such as participation in community service, holiday study camps, learning excursions, and mentorship sessions.”
